1987: B.B. King receives Lifetime Achievement Award

The award was given to King by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, which also presents the Grammy Awards.  In 2008 the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretative Center opened. Exhibits feature the blues legend’s life and career.
